1. Pre - installation Preparation

  1. Gather Tools: You will need a wrench, screwdriver, bolts, nuts, and washers. Make sure the size of these tools and fasteners match the caster and the equipment you are installing it on.

  1. Inspect the Caster and Equipment: Check the caster for any damage during transportation, such as bent axles or broken wheels. Also, ensure that the mounting surface of the equipment is clean, flat, and free of any debris or rust.

2. Installation Steps for Plate - Mounted Casters

  1. Positioning: Place the plate - mounted caster on the pre - determined mounting area of the equipment. Align the holes on the caster plate with the holes on the equipment.

  1. Inserting Fasteners: Insert bolts through the holes of the caster plate and the equipment. Put washers on both sides of the plates to distribute the load evenly. Then, screw on the nuts.

  1. Tightening: Use a wrench to tighten the nuts. Tighten them in a cross - pattern, for example, tighten the top - left nut first, then the bottom - right nut, followed by the top - right nut, and finally the bottom - left nut. This ensures that the caster is evenly attached and prevents any tilting.

3. Installation Steps for Stem - Mounted Casters

  1. Drilling (if necessary): If the equipment doesn't have a pre - drilled hole for the caster stem, use a drill to create a hole of the appropriate size. Make sure the hole is straight and perpendicular to the mounting surface.

  1. Inserting the Stem: Insert the stem of the caster into the hole on the equipment. Push it in firmly until it is fully seated.

  1. Locking the Caster: Use a set screw or a locking collar to secure the caster in place. Tighten the set screw or the locking collar using a screwdriver or a wrench, depending on the type of locking mechanism.

4. Post - installation Checks

  1. Mobility Test: Gently move the equipment to check if the caster rotates smoothly. There should be no abnormal resistance or noise.

  1. Stability Check: Make sure the caster is firmly attached to the equipment. Try to wiggle the caster to see if it is loose. If there is any looseness, re - tighten the fasteners or the locking mechanism.

By following these steps, you can successfully install a caster on your equipment. Remember to always refer to the manufacturer's instructions for any specific details or precautions related to your caster model.
